Strokes can affect anyone at any time altering how you move, think and feel. State-of-the-art neurodiagnostic technology at Barrow Neurological Institute helps doctors determine the exact cause of a stroke so that they are quickly able to treat and prevent future strokes. With active participation in clinical stroke research trials, Barrow stroke leaders have the very latest knowledge of new stroke therapies and can discuss the best treatment options for stroke patients.
Under the leadership of Michael Waters, MD, PhD, director of the Neurovascular Division and Stroke Program and a professor in the Department of Neurology at Barrow, the Barrow Stroke Program has launched a new era of stroke research.
Dr. Waters’ expertise includes stroke and neurovascular disease and his research studies focus on the genetic mechanisms of stroke and neuroprotection in stroke, with multiple clinical trials investigating stroke treatments and neurogenetic mechanisms of neuroplasticity.
