Sue J. Sword: A gift unlike any other
As the co-trustee of the Marian Mullin Hancock Charitable Trust, Sue J. Sword has continued Captain Allan and Marian Hancock’s local philanthropic leadership in the Santa Maria Valley. In addition to furthering the Hancock’s tradition of charitable giving, Sue has also built her own legacy of philanthropy and volunteerism – all in order to boldly shape a better world.
That is why the Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation was excited and honored to share the signing of a $2.5 million pledge from Sue J. Sword, honorary and founding member of the Marian Foundation Board of Directors. This transformational gift is in support of the programs and services of the Marian Heart Center. Its great significance merits the naming of the Marian Heart Center to the Sue J. Sword Heart Center and will further advance the programs and services of the heart center with phase 3 of the heart center expansion project.
This truly transformational gift has been decades in the making and represents Sue’s meaningful relationship of more than 70 years with Marian through the Sisters of Saint Francis, hospital leadership, physicians, and community supporters.
“The hospital is close to my heart. Marian Regional Medical Center stands for our community and the care they provide touches everyone. It’s very fulfilling knowing that the work they do and the contributions made will further advance care and benefit the future people of Santa Maria,” Sue said.
