St. Rose Dominican expanding community education and wellness thanks to generosity of donors
Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican announced a $4 million gift from the Engelstad Family Foundation to support community education and wellness programs at four new neighborhood hospitals in the greater Las Vegas area.
Developed in underserved areas, these hospitals are designed to increase access to high-quality health care. Community outreach programs will be co-located with the Dignity Health Medical Group primary care offices on the second floor of each hospital, enabling coordination of patient referrals to better align patients with a continuum of care.
St. Rose currently has three community education and wellness outreach centers offering over 4,000 low-cost or free classes every year with 80,000 client interactions. Programs include free breast cancer screenings and support; evidence-based disease management and prevention; fitness, nutrition, wellness, pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding classes; and supplemental nutrition programs. Thanks to the generous support of the Engelstad Family Foundation, St. Rose will be able to expand staffing, programming, materials, and operating resources to provide these outreach programs at the new hospitals by mid-2018.
“We are grateful to the Engelstad Family Foundation for their support of our efforts to focus on active population health management aimed at keeping people healthy,” said Charles Guida, president of St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation.
